How to Ruin a Summer Vacation by Simone Elkeles
Read the other books in the series:
Hi, it’s me, Amy Nelson. You might have read How to Ruin a Summer Vacation, the story about my trip to Israel this past summer. Well, if you have you’re surely gonna want to run to the book store (or library) and get How to Ruin my Teenage Life. Okay, so in the book it describes in detail how I get myself into wacky situations I have to get myself out of in my own creative style (Warning: Don’t try these at home). But I’m only trying to fix the lives of the people around me even if I make a fool out of myself (okay, I admit it wasn’t my brightest idea to sign my dad up for speed dating, but he needs a wife, right?). I just want to know how somewhere in this process my teenage life got screwed up so badly. Help!

“HOW TO RUIN MY TEENAGE LIFE is absolute must-read teen fiction! From the wickedly funny voice of the protagonist, Amy, to her wicked-hot Israeli boyfriend, Avi, the romance sizzles and the plot line sings. Elkeles’s book stands out from the crowd with a super unique and genuine twist on multicultural and “parentals” who add to the richness story rather than detracting from it. This novel, and its predecessor, HOW TO RUIN MY SUMMER VACATION,” are on my keeper shelf for life, and Elkeles is on my auto-buy author list!
Lynda Sandoval, National Reader’s Choice Award winner of WHO’S YOUR DADDY?, CHICKS AHOY, and many more.

“Simone Elkeles has done it again! HOW TO RUIN MY TEENAGE LIFE is fun, sassy, and the perfect read for that lazy summer day. Her characters are identifiable and three-dimensional, and you’ll find it hard to put the book down.”
Marley Gibson, author of the SORORITY 101 books, writing as Kate Harmon

“This book has laugh-out-loud moments.  Amy manages to mess up her life in very funny ways…Amy’s thoughtfulness and depth raise this book above most of the chick-lit genre.”
Cindy Faughnan, reviewer, VOYA

“The choice for teens who seek realistic YA fiction free from heavy issues but with appealingly ordinary drama and humor.
Suzanne Gordon, Peachtree Ridge High School, Suwanee, GA, reviewer, School Library Journal

“If you haven’t already read Simone Elkeles’ first novel about Amy Nelson-Barak’s crazy and hilarious adventures discovering her Israeli heritage, go read How to Ruin a Summer Vacation right away. If you have, then you’re probably dying to see what scrapes straight-talking but lovable Amy gets into next. You won’t be disappointed by HOW TO RUIN MY TEENAGE LIFE. Amy’s frank, amusing narration, the believable characters, and the non-stop predicaments they all get into make it an unmistakably entertaining read. The adventures just keep on coming for Amy; here’s hoping that the novels will keep on coming for us!
Marla Arbach, reviewer, YA Books Central

“I give How to Ruin My Teenage Life four stars!”
Michele Pinczuk, reviewer, JVIBE magazine

“Sequels do not usually live up to the first book, but HOW TO RUIN MY TEENAGE LIFE certainly did. You just can’t help but fall in love with Amy and laugh at her crazy attempts to solve her problems. Exercising your mouth muscles is a must before reading this novel, since there will be a smile on your face throughout the entire book. Fans of the first book (HOW TO RUIN A SUMMER VACATION) will not be disappointed with this wonderful follow-up.
